Eye Exam

Regular, comprehensive eye examinations are essential in maintaining a lifetime of good vision. During your exam, your doctor will:
  • Obtain a comprehensive health and lifestyle history in order to evaluate health and occupational conditions that may affect your eyes and vision.
  • Utilize the latest testing technologies to detect and monitor conditions of the eye. This may include computerized testing techniques and photography to document conditions of the eye.
  • Provide an accurate optical prescription and and discuss options for your visual needs based on your specific lifestyle requirements. Those options may include contact lenses for active individuals, refractive surgery for those who wish to be free of vision correction, or glasses for computer, driving, or outdoor activities. Your doctor will work with you in deciding which options are best for you.
  • Welcome your personal and family eyecare questions and provide emergency care when needed. We want you to trust our office to provide the best eyecare possible for your family.
  • Provide treatment options for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and dry-eye. Many medical and surgical treatments are available for these and other eye conditions.

Glasses

Are your old glasses heavy, thick, uncomfortable to wear, or just out of style? New lens and frame technology makes wearing flasses a fashionable and very functional option for correcting your vision. Here are some new trends in eyewear that we utilize here at our office:
  • Transition Lenses are clear indoors and go to sunglass-dark outdoors. They provide convenient protection for UV radiation and glare, helping you to achieve healthy sight.
  • Crizal lenses are specifically designed to combine no-glare properties with double-sided scratch resistance and an easy-to-clean finish. These lenses eliminate reflections that cause eyestrain and fatigue, especially from flourescent lighting and computer screens.
  • Airwear lenses are lighter and 10 times more impact-resistant than standard plastic lenses. They also offer scratch-resistance, and complete uv protection. These lenses are great for children.
  • Flexon frames return to their original shape even after accidental bending occurs. They offer the wearer superior eyewear that provides comfort, durability, and functionality.

Contact Lenses

Our optometric physicians are specialists in fitting all types of contact lenses.

Did you know that contacts could...

  • Replace your reading glasses? Multifocal and monovision (one-eye) contact lens fitting techniques are able to provide clear vision at all distances without the need for reading glasses.
  • Be worn day and night? Newer materials which allow more oxygen transmission are approved for day and night use and can provide a comfortable, convenient, and healthy option for contact lens wear.
  • Feel less dry and more comfortable than ever before? Surface coatings and new materials are designed to improve wettibility and comfort in dry eye conditions.
  • Current contact lens designs and professional fitting by make it possible for almost anyone to wear contact lenses.

LASIK Consultation/Co-Management

Refractive surgery consultations are provided by our doctors as part of our commitment to total eyecare. As primary eyecare physicians, optometrists play an important role in helping patients decide if this option is appropriate for them. Generally, patients have had long-term care from their optometrist before seeking surgical procedures. All options such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, and reractive surgery will be discussed. If the decision is made to proceed with the surgery, your optometric physician will recommend the specific type of surgical approach which will be the most beneficial.

Preoperative testing will be performed by your optometrist and referral will be made to the appropriate refractive surgeon.

Following the surgery, your optometrist will provide post-operative care in conjunction with the surgeon to insure the best outcome possible.

Low Vision Services

Many ocular conditions can result in loss of vision. These may include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma or many others. When the vision is compromised to the extent that a regular glasses or contact lenses prescription is not adequate, a low vision evaluation may be indicated. Low vision rehabilitation services include magnifiers, high-power readers, microscipe, and telescipe aids and electronic magnification.

Eye Diseases

An optometrist can diagnose and help you manage and/or prevent vision loss from diseases such as macular degeneration, which is a deterioration of retinal tissue in the macular region, and glaucoma, where excessive fluid in the eye increases the pressure inside and can cause blindness.
